At Malmesbury Dental & Specialist Referral Centre, we offer Direct Access hygienist care, allowing patients to book appointments with our hygienists without needing to see a dentist first. This treatment is ideal for maintaining excellent oral health, preventing gum disease, and keeping your smile feeling fresh and healthy.

Direct Access means you can attend an advanced hygienist appointment independently of a dental check-up. Our qualified hygienists are trained to assess your gum health, identify signs of inflammation or periodontal disease, and provide professional cleaning and preventative care.
If, during your visit, the hygienist identifies any concerns that require a dentist’s assessment, they will explain this clearly and arrange an appropriate referral within the practice to our general dentist or specialist periodontists.
We use EMS Airflow®, a state-of-the-art dental hygiene system that delivers a gentle yet highly effective clean using a controlled stream of air, warm water, and fine powder. It removes plaque, staining, and harmful bacteria from the teeth and gums with minimal discomfort.

Direct Access advanced hygienist appointments focus on gum health and professional cleaning and do not replace routine dental examinations. We recommend regular dental check-ups to ensure comprehensive oral health care, including assessment of teeth, restorations, and mouth cancer screening.
Dental X-rays – For your safety and to support comprehensive care, we advise patients to request a copy of any dental X-rays taken by their general dentist within the last 12 months before attending a Direct Access advanced hygienist appointment, if any have been taken. Having access to recent X-rays helps us gain a clearer understanding of your oral health and reduces the need for unnecessary repeat imaging.
If you are unsure how to obtain your X-rays, your previous dental practice can provide these upon request, and our team will be happy to receive them ahead of your appointment.
If you are joining Malmesbury Dental & Specialist Referral Centre as a new patient, we always recommend seeing a dentist for a full examination first, where possible.
This allows us to assess your overall oral health, carry out any necessary X-rays and mouth cancer screening, and ensure your advanced hygienist care is planned safely and effectively.

Very pleasant and well-equipped new dental surgery. The staff were very welcoming and explained everything clearly.
I received excellent care at the brand-new dental practice in Malmesbury and would recommend it as a family dental practice. I was looking for a new dentist as the one I had been with for decades was retiring. It’s conveniently situated just off the main roundabout into Malmesbury and is the first turn on the left just before Malmesbury Primary Care Centre — plenty of easy parking. The building itself is beautifully converted from the old police station and is light and airy, with calming decor. The dental nurses were exceptionally friendly and welcoming, even taking time to show me round the practice. Everything is new, and the facilities are equipped to a high standard. Dr Alzin, the dentist I saw, was very professional, explained all procedures thoroughly, and provided valuable tips for maintaining healthy teeth and gums. I look forward to my return visit in 6 months for my next routine check-up. Thank you, everyone. I genuinely enjoyed my visit today.
I visited on opening day and had a great experience. The staff were lovely and offered refreshments upon arrival, everything was fully explained to me, and various options were given. Highly recommended!

I have recently moved back to Malmesbury and found myself in need of an emergency dental appointment. I called Malmesbury Dental & Specialist Referral Centre, and they booked me in the very same day. The service has been outstanding, and the staff are very welcoming and friendly. Each dentist is incredibly knowledgeable and has helped me massively. I can’t recommend them highly enough for anyone who needs a quality dentist.
