Dr Alyson Lampard

Alyson was born in Caerphilly and trained at the University of Wales College of Medicine in Cardiff from 1985 to 1990, graduating with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery. From early on, she was drawn to general practice and, after completing house officer posts in Adult Oral Health and Prosthetics, chose to move away from the hospital environment to pursue her passion for primary care dentistry.

In 1997, Alyson became the practice owner and principal dentist at Sleep Lane Smiles in South Bristol. Alongside her husband Richard, she successfully balanced the demands of running a busy dental practice while raising their young family. They have two daughters, both now mothers themselves.

A committed lifelong learner, Alyson has undertaken extensive postgraduate training throughout her career. Her studies include advanced restorative and cosmetic dentistry, orthodontics for general practitioners, facial aesthetics, and endodontics. She also holds a postgraduate diploma from the University of Bristol in Periodontology, Oral Medicine, and Paediatric Dentistry.

More recently, Alyson has completed comprehensive training in Dental Sleep Medicine, qualifying her to screen, assess, and treat patients with snoring and obstructive sleep apnoea. This has become a particular passion of hers. She strongly believes in the important role dentists play in identifying early signs of sleep-related breathing disorders, and in the life-changing impact that timely diagnosis and treatment can have. She is also pleased to offer high-quality, custom-made mandibular advancement splints, which provide an effective treatment option for many adults.

Alyson is delighted to be joining the team at Malmesbury Dental & Specialist Referral Centre.

Outside of work, Alyson enjoys a full and active life. She has three young grandchildren who bring her great joy, sings in a choir, and enjoys long walks with her husband and their dogs. She also spends as much time as possible in Pembrokeshire, where she is nurturing a coastal garden.
